RSVP America Reads Program helps children improve thier reading ability, RSVP would like to invite community members 55 years of age or better to listen to children read.  Thru the America Reads program, you could provide one of the following.
     *  Read to a child or group of children.
     *  Help a child learn new words.
     *  Help children understand what they have just read.
     *  Listen to a child read to you.

Reading one-to-one with a student or small group of children has an immediate positive impact on the young readers. 

One volunteer, two hours per week, can make a difference in the lives of three or more children.

Reader's Theatre takes the classic Children's books and writes them into theater scripts. Using the scripts and some silly props and costumes, the volunteers perform for children 3 to 9 years of age. The mission of Reader's Theater is to instill a love for reading along with developing a child's creative imagination. As with many RSVP activities, Reader's Theater is a wonderful intergenerational project.
